Edmonton Academy exists to serve students with diagnosed learning disorders through intentional instruction, small class sizes, and individualized support. Our goal is to help students develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed for long-term success.
Edmonton Academy is an independent school serving students in Grades 3–12 with diagnosed specific learning disorders. We provide a structured, supportive learning environment where students are taught in ways that recognize their strengths and address their challenges.
At Edmonton Academy, we believe students learn best when they feel safe, understood, and supported. Many of the students who come to us have experienced frustration or repeated failure in traditional school settings. Our role is to change that experience. Building relationships and creating a safe, caring, and welcoming school environment for our students from grades 3 - 12 is foundational to being successful with our students. We understand that many of the students entering Edmonton Academy have struggled, so school and learning may be synonymous with frustration and failure. Our staff is committed to building a school community using our school-wide positive behaviour support model of respect, responsibility, and relationships to support all students to experience success academically, socially, and emotionally. Edmonton Academy’s goals are to restore student confidence and make it possible for each student to progress steadily towards academic success using specialized teaching methods. This is accomplished by: Raising self-esteem, confidence, and independence. Using teaching strategies and supports that help each student minimize the effects of his or her specific learning disorder. Developing independent work habits and transferable skills. Encouraging personal discipline and a sense of structure for each student. Providing the approved Alberta Education curriculum.
