Teaching Philosophy

Prep forms young men to be competent by gaining in-depth knowledge, developing talents, skills, and the right abilities to reach an effective professional achievement for human excellence. Our students gain competence by working and developing together in the classroom, on the fields and stage, and in service to others, and by promoting collaboration. Prep forms young men to know themselves, by developing their ability to internalize and cultivate a spiritual life. Through a diverse curriculum, our mission and ministry work, and Christian service work, our students have a consistent knowledge and experience of society and its imbalances. At Prep we model and work to build courage by being open and generous. Courage is accepting that God might be asking something difficult, challenging, and risky of us. Through their education our students learn courage and gain a certain interior freedom to put a decision in God's hands over his own. Being able to experience suffering or change alongside someone else––to listen to their cares and concerns and to share their joys and sorrows, to see the world through their eyes, to step into their shoes, to empathize.

Community & Culture

Georgetown Prep cultivates a close-knit brotherhood grounded in Jesuit values of intellectual excellence, service, and personal growth. The school emphasizes cura personalis—personalized care for the whole person—creating an environment where students receive individual attention in classrooms and develop deep friendships with classmates. With 80+ extracurricular clubs, 17 athletic teams, and a strong residential community, students engage in leadership opportunities, service trips extending beyond national borders, and spiritual reflection. The campus culture centers on forming "men for others" who challenge themselves to pursue the Magis—the Jesuit concept of striving for more with generosity, excellence, and empathy.

Diversity & Inclusion

Georgetown Prep emphasizes diversity as a core strength of its community. The school's student body represents 87 countries and 48 states, with the boarding program comprising 45% international students. The website states that "diversity makes us stronger, and that all voices deserve to be represented and heard." As a Catholic Jesuit school, Prep welcomes students of all faiths and backgrounds, believing that reflection on one's faith leads to spiritual maturity and service commitment. The school integrates global connections throughout its curriculum and extracurriculars, including international service trips. Current enrollment includes students from Asia, Latin America, Africa, and Europe, with China representing the largest international student population.

Parent Involvement

Parent involvement details are not prominently featured on the website. The site mentions a Parents' Club with annual dues of $105 and references a Back to School Night in September, but specific volunteer opportunities, committees, or structured engagement programs are not described. Communication channels include weekly GP Weekly emails on Thursdays, monthly letters from the Academic Dean, and access to a parent portal through Veracross for schedules and academic progress.
