About Loretto School

At Loretto we see the evidence all around us that fostering young people in mind, body and spirit - an educational ethos established and unchanged since its inception 200 years ago - remains the best foundation for life today. We are a small school but with our size comes strength, as whether they be three or eighteen years old, each student donning our unique red blazer is known and nurtured - we make it our mission to know what makes them tick!

Loretto School is Scotland's oldest boarding school, fostering young people in mind, body, and spirit. With a historic 85-acre campus, it offers a nurturing environment for students aged 3 to 18.

Teaching Philosophy

We offer a tailored education for every pupil, based upon our founding motto ‘spartam nactus es, hanc exorna,’ which roughly translates as ‘you were born with talents: develop them’. This principle underpins Loretto’s personalised approach to each child’s education. At Loretto, our goal is for your child to thrive in Mind, Body and Spirit and for all of our pupils to create exceptional lives.
